(FREDERICTON, NB – July 30th, 2020) – The Atlantic Modified Tour (AMT) will begin its 2020 racing season Saturday evening at Petty International Raceway outside of Moncton, New Brunswick. The CannaConnect 35 is the first of two stops for the year at the high banked bullring and is the opening round of six on the season. The CannaConnect 35 is a part of a big Saturday evening of racing at Petty Raceway with eight features scheduled on the card. Racing action begins on Saturday, August 1st at 6pm.

Nine drivers have signaled early intent to begin their 2020 season with the Series at Petty on Saturday. Yves McCray (Neguac, NB) enters Petty International Raceway as the reigning track titlist for the Modifieds while Brandon Skidmore (Springhill, NS) captured the Series title in 2019. Both drivers have seen success at the River Glade, New Brunswick oval, owning five wins in the last seven races at the track. The pair are among the favorites leading into the first 35-lap feature of the 2020 campaign.

If they want to continue to build on their solid foundations from 2019, they will have their work cut out for them.

Two-time Atlantic Modified Tour champion Joe Hoyt (Waasis, NB) and former River Glade International winner Zean Dutcher (Miramichi, NB) won races last season and will look to start 2020 on the right foot. Hoyt, who won the 2019 Season Finale at Speedway Miramichi, last celebrated a victory at Petty Raceway in 2017. Braxton Stafford (Blackville, NB) is the 2018 Petty Raceway Modified champion and will look to record his first feature win since that championship run two seasons ago. Kevin Bailey (Minto, NB) is also a former winner in River Glade, but some time has passed since his last victory there in 2016.

The 2019 season saw a first time winner at Petty International Raceway in Chris Wilson (South Esk, NB). History could be written once more on Saturday as 2019 Rookie of the Year Travis Conroy (Miramichi, NB), Greg Butler (Hoyt, NB) and Steven Curtis (South Esk, NB) will be searching for their first checkered flag with the Series.
