It was a slick day in the River Glade, NB woods as the Atlantic Modified Tour made its way to the high banks of Petty International Raceway for race number four on the 2023 season. A rescheduled event from the original date of July 8th, Sunday’s 35-lapper saw eight modified cars show up to the track to compete.

The lone qualifying heat saw Braxton Stafford take the checkered flag after 10 laps.

Seven cars took the green flag for the feature in front of a relatively sizable Sunday crowd. The 89 of Conrad Murphy did not take to the track after battling mechanical issues early in the day. Many fans battled the heat and stuck around from the previous night’s SLMS 150 lap slugfest between Cory Hall and Dylan Gosbee to feel the thunder of the Atlantic Modifieds.

The race was slowed by one caution on lap 16 for a spin in turn 1 as the 17 car of Joe Hoyt was redirected to the infield with the aid of an opposing car. Doug Matchett would eventually take home the victory, after leading the majority of the laps, bringing home his first feature win of the young season.

The next event on the AMT schedule is booked for Saturday, July 22nd, with an afternoon event at the flat-tracked Speedway Miramichi.
