(RIVER GLADE, NB – September 21st, 2020) – Chris Wilson (South Esk, NB) raced to his second career Atlantic Modified Tour win at Petty International Raceway on Sunday afternoon with the win in the Krown Rust Control 50. Wilson, who also won the qualifying heat race in the ten car field, led wire to wire in the only extended distance race of the season for the Tour. The final restart took place with 29 laps to go, a restart in which Wilson was challenged by Speedway Miramichi winner Joe Hoyt (Waasis, NB) but would ultimately drive into the fading Sunday sun for the victory.

“I love racing here, I love driving these cars and after the last two weeks of not finishing we got to make it up tonight with a big win,” said Wilson in victory lane. “I saw Joe coming. I was stroking about 90% of the race, then I saw the pink bumper (of Hoyt’s car) getting closer and knew I had to get going.”

Hoyt and Kevin Bailey (Minto, NB) would join Wilson on the podium. Brandon Skidmore (Springhill, NS), who ran as high as second in the early laps, would be fourth at the finish ahead of Braxton Stafford (Blackville, NB) in fifth.

The race was slowed by two caution periods. The first was for the disabled car of outside pole sitter Kim Hallihan (Renous, NB) coming to a stop on the back straight seven laps into the Krown Rust Control 50. The second came with 21 laps completed as Zean Dutcher (Miramichi, NB) spun off the front bumper of Bailey. Yves McCray (Neguac, NB) entered as the point leader but a mechanical failure in the opening laps would relegate the No. 58 to the pit area and would suffer a tenth place finish. The fifth point race of the 2020 season was a part of the Seventh Annual Mike Stevens Memorial weekend at the River Glade, New Brunswick oval.
